Xiaomi Mi 5 To Sport A 5.2″ Display, Fingerprint Scanner

We’ve talked about many of Xiaomi-branded devices this year. China’s number one smartphone OEMs announced quite a few smartphones in the first half of this year, in addition to a bunch of smart gadgets. 

Xiaomi is nowhere near done announcing devices though, there’s plenty more to come from the company’s camp. The Redmi Note 2 and Mi 5 definitely come to mind first, quite probably because those two are the most leaked Xiaomi-branded devices lately. 

Both of these smartphones will probably get announced in the next couple of weeks / months, and we have some new info when it comes to Xiaomi’s flagship, the Mi 5.

According to a new rumor, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will sport a 5.2-inch display and a fingerprint scanner. This leak didn’t exactly share much info with us, so we don’t know where will this fingerprint scanner be located, nor whether will it be a button or not. 

The Xiaomi Mi 4 was announced back in July last year, and Xiaomi might opt to launch the Mi 5 a bit later this time around. Why? Well, because the company already launched the Mi Note and Mi Note Pro flagship phablets back in January, and a number of leaks have suggested that the Mi 5 might arrive in September this year. 

It remains to be seen how accurate that is. It is, however, quite probable that the Redmi Note 2 will arrive before the Mi 5.

That being said, there’s no question the Mi 5 will sport high-end specifications and premium build, but we still don’t now how will it look like. We haven’t seen many leaks regarding its design, but some rumors have been saying that we can expect it to sport a bezel-less display and a metal build. 

You can also expect the phone to ship with 3 or 4GB of RAM, and quite probably a 20-megapixel camera on its back. Android Lollipop will quite probably be installed on this handset, with Xiaomi’s MIUI OS on top of it. 

There you have it folks, all we can do now is wait for more info, judging by past experiences, we’ll see a ton more leaks before this handset actually launches, so stay tuned for that.
