Huawei says its real competitor is Samsung, not Xiaomi.

Huawei may well be behind Xiaomi in local as well as international rankings, but that doesn’t mean it considers the latter as its competitor, or so claimed the company’s CEO Richard Yu, who said that Huawei instead sees Samsung as its real rival.

Yu also said that Xiaomi, which has apparently reached the number two position in China now, stands no chance in the high-end segment of the market, while adding that the startup’s Mi Note as well as Mi 4devices offer no advantages over Huawei’s Ascend Mate 7 and Honor 6 Plus, respectively.
The news comes just a few days after Yu slammed Xiaomi’s recently unveiled Mi Note Pro for having poor battery life.

mobila betalningar, enligt analysfirman ITG. Rivalen Google Wallet, som
lanserades 2011, utgjorde fyra procent av alla mobila betalningar gjorda
under samma tidsperiod.

Mobile Biometric Revenue Soars to $33.3 Billion by 2020.

Mobile Biometric Revenue Soars to $33.3 Billion by 2020 as 2.4 Billion Mobile Biometric Users Download 4 Billion Biometric Apps and Secure 825 Billion Transactions.

DENVERJan. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Biometrics in mobile payments, banking, and a host of other mobiles services and applications are poised to transform and accelerate the globalization of mCommerce. The latest research from Acuity Market Intelligence reveals a mobile biometric marketplace more complex, broadly based, and growing faster than previous forecasts indicate.
Acuity segments the mobile biometrics into three major sectors:
  • Biometric Sensors embedded in smart mobile devices: Smart Phones, Tablets, and Wearables.
  • Biometric Apps offered directly by biometric vendors, or downloaded to smart devices via mobile service providers such as banks, payment processors, social media sites, retailers, or online identity providers.
  • Biometric Authentication for payment and non-payment transactions provided via secure cloud-based services linked to Biometric Apps on smart devices.
Acuity projects that by 2020, global mobile biometric market revenues will reach $33.3 billion annually. This includes 4.76 billion biometrically enabled smart mobile devices generating $6 billion in biometric sensor revenue, 4 billion biometric app downloads generating $20 billion in annual revenues from direct purchase and software development fees, and 825 billion biometrically secured payment and non-payment transactions generating $6.8 billion in authentication fees.

According to Maxine Most, Acuity Market Intelligence Principal and leading independent biometric market analyst, "Mobility is the driving force that will unleash the long awaited biometric revolution."
Most, an industry thought leader with more than a dozen years of intensive focus on this now burgeoning marketplace, says "Biometrics are a natural fit for the smart mobile devices we literally hold onto nearly every waking hour. The explosion in the use of smart devices over the past five years, along with anticipated growth over the next five -- especially in developing economies where sub $100 smart phones have begun to alter the mobile landscape -- will bring biometrics into the daily lives of half the global population. By 2020, 100% of smart mobile devices will include embedded biometric sensors as a standard feature."

FIDO Alliance Announces New Leadership Team for 2015.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, Jan 28, 2015 (Marketwired via COMTEX) -- The FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance (https://www.fidoalliance.org/), an industry consortium launched in 2013 to revolutionise online authentication with open standards for simpler, stronger authentication, today announced the result of their annual officer election, including new president Dustin Ingalls of Microsoft, and the appointment of the organization's first executive director, Brett McDowell.

In addition to appointing first-time officer Ingalls of Microsoft as their new President, Bill Smith of PayPal, Joe Pennisi of Lenovo, and Sampath Srinivas of Google were all re-elected to their 2014 positions of Secretary, Treasurer and Vice President, respectively; and the board appointed additional Vice Presidents Ramesh Kesanupalli, Nok Nok Labs and FIDO Alliance visionary, and Sami Nassar, NXP, expanding the leadership team to address the growing opportunities for FIDO standards adoption in 2015. The Board recognized outgoing President and former PayPal CISO Michael Barrett as Chairman Emeritus.
The year 2014 was an ambitious and successful one for the FIDO Alliance. Membership grew by more than a third, highlighted with additions to a board that now comprises global leaders in consumer devices and platforms, enterprise security, and authenticating high-value consumer transactions online. Met with widespread acclaim, the FIDO Alliance published final 1.0 specifications, the world's first standards for interoperable strong authentication. Thirty-three FIDO Ready(TM) implementations have passed interoperability testing, which offer many easy, secure ways to login and transact with sites, services, or cloud applications using FIDO authentication. Options range from biometrics to hardware tokens, embedded chips, and microSD adaptations, and FIDO U2F products from Google, Yubico, Plug-up, EyeLock and other FIDO Alliance members. Google Chrome, the world's most popular web browser, now provides native support for FIDO authentication. Hundreds of millions of Samsung device users are prepared to use FIDO authentication in mass-scale payments applications that are deployed globally, including on China's largest payments platform, Alipay.
"The crescendo of activity in 2014 around credential theft & payment fraud has resulted in an ecosystem that is clamoring for a stronger solution that's easy to use," said FIDO Alliance President Dustin Ingalls. "The diversity and broad representation present in the FIDO Alliance today make it the frontrunner to deliver a broad industry solution to these issues."
"I see 2015 as the year when FIDO Alliance transitions from simply developing specifications and advocating awareness to an organization that is taking a proactive role in helping to shepherd the inevitable shift in the industry from single-factor password security to simpler, stronger authentication," according to Brett McDowell, Executive Director of the FIDO Alliance. "All the signs point to a dramatic increase in the adoption of biometrics and other innovations that will be enabled for secure, privacy-respecting interoperation through compliance to FIDO standards."
In 2015, the FIDO Alliance will continue to expand the FIDO standards for strong authentication with new versions that will enhance FIDO U2F with additional mobile and wireless capabilities, including extensions for BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and NFC (Near Field Communications).
The FIDO Alliance participates in events worldwide to inform global audiences that better authentication -- more secure, private and easier-to-use than passwords -- has arrived and is ready to use now.
About The FIDO Alliance The FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance,www.fidoalliance.org, was formed in July 2012 to address the lack of interoperability among strong authentication technologies, and remedy the problems users face with creating and remembering multiple usernames and passwords. The FIDO Alliance is changing the nature of authentication by developing standards-based specifications for simpler, stronger authentication that define an open, scalable, interoperable set of mechanisms that reduce reliance on passwords. FIDO authentication is stronger, private, and easier to use when authenticating to online services.
The FIDO Alliance Board of Directors includes leading global organizations: Alibaba Holdings BABA, -4.36% ; ARM Holdings plc (ARM) ARMH, +0.25% ; Bank of America Corporation BAC, -2.75% ; CrucialTec (krx:114120); Discover Financial Services DFS, -1.26% ; Google; IdentityX; Lenovo; MasterCard MA, -1.26% ; Microsoft MSFT, -3.45% ; Nok Nok Labs, Inc.; NXP Semiconductors N.V. NXPI, +1.41% ; Oberthur Technologies OT; PayPal EBAY, -1.55% ; Qualcomm, Inc. QCOM, -1.09% ; RSA(R); Samsung Electronics, Ltd (koscom:SECL); Synaptics SYNA, +0.92% ; Visa Inc. V, -1.84% ; Yubico.

Nokia Embrace curved phone with 41MP camera specs.

We sometimes like to show readers new concept designs, and many of these are based on future flagship devices. Today we have a new render to share that is of a rather unusual handset. Step forward the Nokia Embrace curved phone with 41MP camera specs and some very interesting features.

The Nokia Embrace users a variety of materials in its build, including aluminum, plastic, and sapphire steel. It has a tactile surface and also protective edging and it was designed by Alyssa O’Neill. We’re not sure how we feel about the actual design of this smartphone, as it looks as though the curvature is quite extreme and also rather on the thick side. However, it certainly offers something a bit different to many of the concepts that we often see, and we wonder what readers think?

The high-end specs include a 41-megapixel Pureview Ultracamera that can be operated with a lock screen button. There are stereo speakers with built in amplifier, and a full touchscreen display with integrated Home button at its base. The Embrace also has LED notifications that are built into the screen, and another feature is that when the phone is turned over the time and notifications are displayed for 5 seconds before they disappear.

One of the images also implies some sort of fingerprint usage and it has a Windows Phone UI. We’ve included a couple of the images of this design here, but you can see more at the source link below, including some sketches showing how the concept evolved. While we’re not completely sold on the curved design of this render, we certainly appreciate the work behind it and the feature ideas.

Would you like to see some of the features and specs of the Nokia Embrace make it to a new Microsoft Lumia smartphone? Maybe you really like the appearance of this Nokia concept? Let us know with your comments.

Projekten uppges potentiellt kunna utgöra sexsiffriga volymer.

lanserades 2011. Enligt analysfirman ITG uppgår dess marknadsandel i USA
till fyra procent. Rivalen Apple Pay, som lanserades i oktober förra året
till mitten av november, uppges ha redan skaffat sig en marknadsandel på
motsvarande två procent.

List of All Fingerprint Scanner Enabled Smartphones.

If privacy and security is on top in your priority features list, you will really want to have a fingerprint scanner in your Smartphone. Top Smartphone manufacturers are now getting the wind of what their customers want and they have started offering a fingerprint sensor in some of their Smartphones. Motorola is the first company to offer this facility in its flagship Smartphone. In 2011, among Android phones, Atrix became the standard-bearer by getting this feature.
Apple followed Motorola adding a fingerprint reader in its Flagship phone iPhone 5s in 2013 and naming it as Touch ID. Soon HTC joined this club by launching One Max  just one month after the release of iPhone 5S. iPhone 5S, However, touch ID got praise and HTC failed to deliver a reliable and accurate scanner. Samsung had been silent regarding fingerprint sensor technology as it had not added this feature in its Flagship devices Note 3 and Galaxy S4. Smartphone world was expecting Samsung, Sony and LG to deliver this feature in their high-end devices but things didn’t change in 2013 as far as the aforesaid companies and fingerprint sensor were concerned.
In April  2014, Samsung finally launched a phone that boasted fingerprint sensor and that was Galaxy S5. Galaxy S5 featured a fingerprint sensor that worked just like iPhone 5S touch ID as its fingerprint sensor was also located on front panel near home button. But its method of working was different. To unlock the phone using touch ID, you need to put the finger on Home button, but to unlock the phone using Samsung fingerprint scanner you need to swipe the finger from top to bottom of the sensor.
When Touch ID and Samsung scanner were compared, experts found that touch ID was fairly more accurate than Samsung scanner and thus Samsung lost to Apple in fingerprint sensor technology.
Here we have listed all available Fingerprint reader enabled Smartphones.

ELEPHONE G6

Elephone is not a well know brand but all of its handsets sound powerful, elegant and feature rich like that of other Chinese brands e.g. Huawei, OnePlus, Xiaomi etc. Elephone G6 may completely woo you by its low price and high-end features. It is a fingerprint scanner enabled phone with which you can lock home screen and apps as well. Sensor is located at its rear. This HD smartphone is pretty affordable and can be bought under $150.
Price – around $150 / 8500 INR

MOTOROLA ATRIX

If you want to buy the cheapest fingerprint sensor phone, Atrix 4G is here for you. You can buy it by just shelling out only around $100 or less. Atrix Sensor is located on top of rear panel and it is fairly accurate in working. You need to swipe your finger on sensor to unlock.
Note – Atrix is an outdated phone though, having very old software Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

APPLE IPHONE 5S, IPHONE 6 AND 6 PLUS

Apple offered fingerprint sensor in iPhone 5s and now it seems to be adding this feature to its all present and future devices. iPhone fingerprint reader is called as Touch ID and it is considered one of the most accurate fingerprint sensor.
Pricing
iPhone 5s – $600
iPhone 6 – Starting from $770
iPhone 6 Plus – $1055

HTC ONE MAX

One Max is a big size phone from HTC and HTC implemented fingerprint sensor in it following Apple. In this phone, sensor is located on rear just below the camera. It has been found in reviews that One Max sensor is not so accurate as Apple Touch ID.
Price – $499

SAMSUNG GALAXY S5

It is the first Smartphone from Samsung that gets this sensor. Sensor is located on home button on front side  and we need to swipe our finger from top to bottom to unlock the phone. It is observed that this sensor is not so much user-friendly and it works only if finger is swiped accurately on the sensor and if your finger is slightly misplaced on the sensor it may not detect your fingerprint.
Price – around $550

SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 4 AND NOTE EDGE

Having panned by critics, Samsung seems to have worked hard to improve its fingerprint sensor hardware and it has been successful to a great extent as Note 4 fingerprint reader is fairly better than that of Galaxy S5. Note 4 users have reported that it is accurate over 95%.
Pricing
Note 4 – $770 (around)
Note Edge – $1051 (around)
Other Samsung Fingerprint sensor enabled Smartphones
  • Galaxy Alpha
  • Galaxy S5 Mini
  • Galaxy S5 Plus

HUAWEI ASCEND MATE 7

Ascend Mate 7 has been the talk of the town since its release in September 2014. Huawei wowed the world with its amazing fingerprint reader that is highly accurate. Tech gurus found that it is the most accurate fingerprint reader to date. The important attraction of this sensor is that it is a 360 degree working fingerprint sensor – i.e you can put your finger on the sensor at any angle and it works. You need not to swipe your finger on the sensor, too. Juts put your finger on sensor and the phone is unlocked. Other major advantage of Huawei sensor is that in addition to locking entire phone, you can also lock any individual app with your fingerprint.
Pricing (around)
16 GB version – $600
32 GB version – $800

XOLO Q2100

India based premium Smartphone maker company Xolo added a fingerprint sensor to its budget phone Xolo Q2100. In fact Xolo Q2100 is the cheapest 2014 fingerprint sensor enabled phone that can be bought for under $200. It is located on back and has been found pretty accurate in testing.
Price – $210 (around)

MEIZU MX4 PRO

Just like Ascend Mate 7, Meizu MX4 Pro is the another Smartphone that comes with one touch unlocker fingerprint sensor. Located on the front panel home button, it is another highly accurate fingerprint sensor.
Price – $450 (expected)

OPPO N3

Oppo N3 has a fingerprint sensor on its rear panel and you can lock entire phone or any single application with its fingerprint scanner. Its sensor is reportedly more convenient than that of others, however, its method of working is different as it is called hybrid sensor. You need to press your finger on it to get it to work instead of swipe or just by placing the finger. Oppo N3 is up for sale since November 2014.
Price – $650 (around)
