Another Major Order for FPC Sensors.

Fingerprint Cards (FPC) has announced that it has received another major order of its FPC1025 fingerprint sensors. This order should see the technology shipped in the second quarter of this year, and is valued at 90 MSEK.

This order follows quickly on the heels of another order, announced just last week, valued at 75 MSEK. In both cases the Sweden-based company has indicated that the FPC1025 sensors will be implemented into smartphones from multiple China-based manufacturers.
Given how mobile commerce and payment are starting gain major momentum all over the world, FPC is in a position to benefit from a growing market for fingerprint sensors, as the biometric technology is seen as an important means of securing mobile devices for such activities. Moreover, with a number of mPayment services set to launch in China over the course of the year, FPC’s partnerships in that market are likely to continue to pay off.

China’s Alipay to offer fingerprint authentication for iPhone 5s users.

Alipay, the payments unit of e-commerce giant Alibaba, will enable Chinese users of the iPhone 5s running iOS 8 to authenticate online payments by leaving their fingerprint, according to China Business News.
Fingerprint-based payments via Alipay are already possible with the Huawei Mate 7, as well as Samsung’s Galaxy S5.
The report mentions the iPhone 5s as enabling Alipay payments, although not the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus,  iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3.  All these devices also feature Apple’s Touch ID sensor.
Payments via the iPhone 5s are capped by Alipay at CNY1,000 ($162) per day. A transaction over this limit needs additional authentication via passwords.
Fingerprint verification is carried out locally, not by uploading data to a third party. In fact, the whole process is carried out via iPhone chips.
Jiang Long, manager of Alipay, said fingerprint access methods boast much higher safety due to their uniqueness. Biological identification is the future direction for mobile payments, he said.
In a similar line of thinking, Alipay is also working with Face++, which specialises in facial recognition technology.

Alipay Wallet enables Apple’s TouchID for payments.

The mobile payments wing of Chinese ecommerce giant Alibaba has enabled access to Apple’s biometric-based TouchID for transactions in the latest iteration of its Wallet app.
Alipay says users of the iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be able to activate their fingerprint payment function after upgrading version of Alipay Wallet app to version 8.4.
"Compared with traditional codes, fingerprints are one of a kind and are not easy to copy. It also effectively improves the security of transactions and reduces the risk of password leaks," the company said in a statement.
Alipay has more than 300 million users, mostly in mainland China.
Earlier this year, Apple CEO Tim Cook hinted at a possible “marriage” between Apple and Alibaba, with commenters saying that a partnership between the two may fast-track the growth of both Apple Pay and Alibaba’s mobile payment solutions.

Alibaba är världens största e-handelsplattform, och nu skall du kunna köpa dina varor med endast ditt fingeravtryck.

"AliPay to add support for the Galaxy S5 fingerprint payment authentication"
"With more then 550 million users and 8.5 million daily transactions, Chinese third-party online payment platform owned by ecommerce site Alibaba called AliPay will soon allow you to authenticate a transaction using the fingerprint scanner on the new Samsung Galaxy S5, according to a new report from Leiphone.
AliPay will add support in Q2 2014. The service allows you not only to make a payment but also lets consumers verify if they are happy with the product that they have bought before releasing money to the seller.
Alipay will become the second payment method that will add support for the Galaxy S5, after Paypal. According to sources, the system has been tested on many different devices among those the iPhone 5S, it is yet unclear if the iPhone will also get an app that allows you to authenticate a payment with your fingerprint. The Samsung Galaxy S5 will officially launch world wide on April 11th, 2014."
