Meizu Received Over 5 Million Registrations For MX5 Sale

Meizu MX5 AH 19
Meizu has recently announced the company’s new flagship, the Meizu MX5. This handset is a direct successor to the Meizu MX5, and it really does have a lot to offer. The Meizu MX5 is made out of metal, and it sports really solid specs. We’ve talked about this handset a number of times thus far, and have even attended its launch in China quite recently. If you’d like to check out hands-on coverage, click here.
That being said, the Meizu MX5 registrations for the first flash sale in China have been around for about a week now. Around 2 million people registered within 24 hours since the phone was launched, and according to the latest info, over 5 million people registered in only a couple of days since the phone was launched. Meizu is kind of limited when it comes to a number of handsets they can offer per flash sale, which was to be expected.
Meizu MX5 features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) Super AMOLED panel along with 3GB of RAM and 16, 32 or 64GB of internal storage. Meizu’s newest flagship is powered by MediaTek’s Helio X10 64-bit octa-core SoC, and a non-removable 3,150mAh battery is also included in this package. The 20.7-megapixel shooter (Sony’s IMX230 sensor) is included on the back of this smartphone, and you also get a dual-LED, dual-tone flash and a Laser Autofocus here. The 5-megapixel snapper is located up front, and this is a dual-SIM handset. Android Lollipop comes pre-installed on Meizu MX5 with the company’s Flyme 4.5 UI on top of it. The Meizu MX5 features mCharge fast charging, mTouch fingerprint scanner (physical home button), and is made out of metal. The device measures 149.9 x 74.7 x 7.6mm, and it weighs 149 grams.
There you have it, it seems like a lot of people located in China want to purchase the Meizu MX5, and it will be interesting to see if Meizu will be able to ramp up their production capacity in the coming months. The company is now able to produce a limited amount of MX5 units, and the demand is clearly quite substantial. Either way, we’ll keep you posted.

Alleged live photo of Meizu MX Supreme makes the rounds.

Alleged live photo of the unannounced Meizu MX Supreme made the rounds on the Chinese social network Weibo. The previously rumored smartphone is reportedly developed in collaboration with Nokia.

The image gives us a peak at the area below the display of the smartphone. Meizu MX Supreme packs an oval home button that is likely to carry a fingerprint sensor, and ultra-thin screen bezels.
It is worth noting that the home button of the leaked smartphone is different that the on found in Meizu MX4 Pro. The latter has a squarish solution instead.
There is no word on the specs of the Meizu MX Supreme for the time being. We’ll keep an eye out for more details on the handset going forward.

Trustonic to Provide TEEs Security for Meizu Devices.

Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) developer Trustonic has announced a partnership with smartphone maker Meizu to have its technology implemented into the latter’s devices. The agreement will begin with Meizu’s MX4 Pro devices, which are now on sale in China.

Speaking in a press release, Trustonic CEO Ben Cade pointed to the ease of use of the Trustonic open TEE platform, asserting that “Trustonic’s partnership with MEIZU is underpinned by the need for simpler, quicker and safer device experiences that enhance the digital lives of users.”

On Meizu’s part, the main interest here is in securing the data associated with their devices’ fingerprint scanning. Meizu CTO Liang Dongming said that the partnership “fills the blank of the fingerprint recognition and safety payment for Chinese smartphones.”

This is a key concern now that online commerce giant Alibaba has acquired a major stake in Meizu. It appears that Alibaba intends to use Meizu devices as perhaps the primary platforms for its Alipay mCommerce service, and that means that the relatively unknown smartphone maker (compared with the likes of Samsung and Apple) is going to have its work cut out for it in proving that it can offer the kind of security needed for mobile commerce. Clearly, with Trustonic technology securing its users biometric data, Meizu feels it is up to the task.

Alibaba ger sig in på mobilmarknaden.

Kinesiska näthandelsjätten Alibaba satsar på smarta mobiltelefoner. Företaget investerar nära fem miljarder kronor i startupbolaget Meizu.

Sammanlagt sålde företaget 1,5 miljoner telefoner i januari. Bland annat tillverkar Meizu den mest sålda mobilen i mellanprisskiktet på Kinamarknaden, Meizu MX4.
