Rumor: HTC Hima Ace Plus to include Hima specs with a larger display.

Those who are disappointed that the rumored HTC Hima will only have a 5-inch 1080p display will be excited to hear that HTC may have a new phone in the works that will sport a 5.5-inch QHD display.

The HTC Hima Ace Plus rumor

According to a new leak, HTC’s product team is finalizing a device by the name of HTC Hima Ace Plus which features a spec sheet which mirrors that of the HTC Hima in nearly every way. The rumored HTC Hima Ace Plus spec sheet includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 clocked at 2.3GHz, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 3,000mAh battery, front-facing BoomSound stereo speakers, 20 megapixel rear camera, four-megapixel UltraPixel selfie camera with flash – all powered by Android Lollipop with HTC Sense 7.
The main distinction between the HTC Hima and HTC Hima Ace Plus is the display and a fingerprint scanner. The HTC Hima is expected to have a standard 5-inch 1080p panel while the newly rumored HTC Hima Ace Plus will have a larger 5.5-inch QHD (2560×1440 pixels) panel with minimal bezel around the edges. The rumored fingerprint scanner is said to work even when the display is turned off. The HTC Hima Ace Plus is not expected to launch until August or September of 2015.

Our take on the HTC Hima Ace Plus rumor

We’re always a bit skeptical when new rumors hit the web. Everyone enjoys a good rumor, but we usually only publish those that have some credibility to them. The HTC Hima Ace Plus is certainly credible – especially when you match up the rumored specs to those of the HTC M8 Prime which was rumored to launch last fall. Make a few tweaks to the SoC and the camera and the HTC M8 Prime and HTC Hima Ace Plus are practically the same device. We’re excited to hear that the fingerprint scanner will be included, but we’re hoping the implementation is a lot better than what HTC delivered with the HTC One max a few years back.
It would be amazing if HTC managed to release the HTC Hima and Hima Ace Plus as the same time, but we know that service providers would balk at the idea of giving HTC that much floor space all at once. Bringing the HTC Hima Ace Plus to market in late summer gives HTC a flagship-tier device to compete directly with the next flagship phones from Motorola and LG which typically hit the market right around that time.
