FPC collaborates with O-Film to tap the Chinese fingerprint identification market.

Touch fingerprint sensors have been adopted in smartphones since last year. With the evolution of mobile payment solutions, touch fingerprint sensors is now developing at a high pace in 2015. China, having many local electronic brands such as Huawei, MIUI, Lenovo and Oppo, has become the top manufacturer and consumer of smartphones around the world. It is a great opportunity for those fingerprint sensor modules suppliers who have strong track record, quick response and ability of mass production.

Recently, Fingerprint Cards (FPC) has announced a partnership with O-Film on touch fingerprint sensors. FPC is providing its touch fingerprint sensor technology while O-Film is developing, manufacturing and selling fingerprint sensor modules to OEMs. O-Film is an experienced developer and manufacturer with a strong client base. It will help FPC to connect the downstream and upstream of the industry chain and capture the Chinese market share. According to Jorgen Lantto, acting President and Chief Executive Officer of FPC, initial revenues will be generated for FPC during Q1 2015.

Fingerprint Cards AB (FPC), based in Gothenburg, Sweden, had been listed on the Small Cap list of NASDAQ OMX Stockholm. FPC develops and produces biometric components and technologies that, through the analysis and matching of an individual's unique fingerprint, verify the person's identity. FPC's world leading technology in touch fingerprint sensors has been used by companies such as Huawei (Huawei Ascend Mate7) and Oppo.

O-Film is based in Shenzhen, China, mainly focusing on manufacturing and marketing capacitive touch panels, camera, LCD modules and Cover Glass. It has grown rapidly in recent years, along with many other local brands such as Huawei. O-Film has an extraordinary past performance with the world's top mobile companies, including Samsung, Huawei, Lenovo and MIUI.

The industry chain of touch fingerprint sensors is intensely competitive in China, especially in the fields of solutions of upstream and the chip packaging of midstream. As for the module of downstream, O-Film is now the leading enterprise in China, as well as a valuable partner for the rest of this industry. As is known, on the aspect of the capacitive touch panel module, O-Film has the highest shipment all over the world. The shipment of O-Film's camera module is heading to the top as well. As for the part of the touch fingerprint sensor, O-Film has a wide range of patents, the experience of large-scale production and the ability of connecting software and hardware. Particularly, O-Film has built the biggest Chinese factory in Dec. 2014 to manufacture touch fingerprint modules.

From this collaboration between FPC and O-Film, it can be seen that chip companies are starting to tap Chinese potential business opportunities by cooperating with leading module manufacturers.
