Huawei is reportedly developing a second-generation Nexus 5 that will arrive before the end of the year. The device is also likely to be called the Nexus 5 2015, according to recent speculation.
The news arrives via Gizmochina, which claims that Kevin Ynah, director of a market research firm, has confirmed that Google will be teaming up with Huawei for a second stab at the Nexus 5 success.
Gizmochina speculates that Google could partner with Huawei has the most potential to compete with Xiaomi's complete dominance in China.
The Nexus 5 has been one of the standout devices of the past two years. The Nexus 6 - its acclaimed successor - has not had the same impact.
With Huawei in the driving seat, the Nexus 5 2015 price would likely be similar to that of the original Nexus 5 (which costs 349 USD, while the Nexus 6 comes in at 649 USD).
As for what will be offered in terms of the Nexus 5 2nd generation specs, it's too early to say, but Huawei might be keen to implement its own Kirin technology rather than use a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
